WHAT IS NON-LASER SALINE TATTOO REMOVAL?

It seems everywhere you go these days you see someone with a tattoo. Tattoos have been around forever but have really become popular the past decade. With everyone and their mother wanting and getting tattoos sooner or later some of them, or you, will have regrets and decide that the once awesome tattoo is now anything but that.

So what to do with this permanent ink stain that sits on your skin? Hiding it under clothing can work but you still see it everyday and know its there. Removal it is!

Okay so you now are certain you want that tattoo gone but how do you decide on the best method and if you can even afford it! Well that's why I, The Ink Vampire is here. I want you to know your options...ALL of your tattoo removal options so that you can make an educated and wise decision.

First let's discuss the various methods for tattoo removal.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT METHODS OF

TATTOO REMOVAL AND LIGHTENING?

Pigment removal has been around for a very long time and clients have several options to choose from:

FADING CREAMS

These products advertise fading or dissolving of the tattoo and contain ingredients such as Hydroquinone, Kojic Acid and TCA.

They may fade the tattoo slightly but do not penetrate deep enough to remove the tattoo .

May cause scarring, discoloration of the skin, burning and/or pain without the desired results.

GLYCOLICS AND TCA’S

Two very common forms of attempted tattoo removal

Neither penetrate deep enough to obtain desired results, some fading may occur but not enough

Scarring, discoloration of the skin, burning and/or pain may occur without the desired results

DERMABRASION

Dermabrasion Tattoo Removal Method.

This is the process of abrading or sanding down the upper layers of skin with a rotary abrasive wheel.

Very painful, leaves the skin raw, can take several months to heal and high risk of complication.

Scarring and undesirable skin color is common therefore this method is not recommended

DERMABRASION VS. MICRO-DERMABRASTION

Do not confuse Dermabrasion with Micro-dermabrasion

Micro-dermabrasion is more superficial and may achieve some light fading but will not remove a tattoo

SALABRASION

Salt, water and lemon is used to vigorously and aggressively abrade the area.

May wrap gauze around a wooden block soaked in salt solution.

Very painful, slow healing and scarring may occur

SURGICAL REMOVAL

Surgically removed by a doctor while under anesthesia. Two types of removal

1.) Cut out the tattoo leaving a scar in the shape of the tattoo. Skin grafting is

possible but obvious with this type of surgery

2.) Make a “football” type incision, remove tattoo from skin, and sew the incision

back together. This leaves a scar line rather than the shape of the tattoo

-Both are expensive, painful, leave scars and at high risk for complication

LASER REMOVAL METHOD

Laser tattoo removal painful blisters

Very common form of removal that works by producing a short pulse of

intense light that penetrates deep enough down in to the skin.

The intense light breaks up the pigment into tiny fragments,

which are disbursed within the body and eventually removed by the body’s immune system.

NON LASER SALINE METHOD

Non Laser Tattoo Removal with Li-Ft

The Saline Method is applied using traditional tattoo equipment in a very similar fashion to how your original tattoo was first applied.

In place of ink, a special saline solution is used which penetrates

the deeper layers of the skin to bond with ink molecules.

As time passes the body naturally recognizes these particles as foreign and pushes them to

the surface of the skin, forming a scab that later heals free of any tattoo dye.

So now that we have covered all the different methods for removing a tattoo lets narrow it down. By now I am sure you are pretty familiar with Laser Tattoo, unless you've been living under a rock. You may have even already heard of the Saline Tattoo Removal method. If not, no worries! I am here to tell you all about it as well as explain the differences between the two.

WHAT IS NON LASER SALINE TATTOO REMOVAL AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

A specialized, all-natural saline solution is implanted over your existing permanent makeup or tattoo. Implanting the solution into the skin breaks up the healed pigment, and begins to lift the pigment out of the skin by osmosis.

The pigment is slowly pulled to the surface of the skin and heals into a scab. When the scab falls off, that pigment falls off with it, leaving a lightened tattoo.

SO...HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT THAN LASER?

Laser tattoo removal works by an entirely different mechanism. A laser is just an intense beam of monochromatic light. When we see color, we are really seeing certain wavelengths of light bouncing off the surface of an object. The rest of the wavelengths are absorbed by the object. So, each color of your tattoo will need to be targeted with the correct wavelength of laser to penetrate and break up that particular color of pigment.

Over time, your body's immune system will absorb the pigment and you will see the lightened tattoo.

IS IT SAFE?

Yes! It is very safe and highly effective. This procedure is for both cosmetic and conventional body tattoos. Our Specialized saline solution is made by Li Pigments in a state licensed and regulated manufacturing lab under the most sterile conditions and is independently tested for safety. This is a non-acid, high concentrate, saline based solution.

IS IT PAINFUL?

You would feel a little to no pain during this procedure. Topical anesthetics are used to numb the treating area before the procedure, as well as during the procedure.

DOES IT MATTER WHERE MY TATTOO LOCATED?

In most cases, no However there are some areas of the body that may be a bit more challenging.

HOW LONG IS A TREATMENT SESSION?

It will depend on the size and placement of the tattoo. Once you arrive for your treatment, you will be given some paperwork to fill out and sign. We will then take some photographs of the tattoo/permanent makeup to be removed/lightened. We will prep and sanitize the area and then apply the numbing anesthetic. This takes a minimum of 20 minutes to take effect. Once you are nice and numb the removal process will begin, this can take anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?

It takes eight weeks for your skin to totally heal. You must wait at least eight weeks until you may receive another treatment on same area. During the healing process the pigment will rise to the surface of the skin, into the scab. It is very important that you Do NOT pick or disturb the scabs! The scabs need to fall off naturally on their own. The tattoo will be lighter after the scab has fallen off and continue to lighten during the 8 week healing process.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Lightening and/or removing unwanted pigment is a long process and patience is required. This is true whether you are choosing a lightening product service or laser. Please be patient and give the process a fair chance to work.

Expect visible and wanted results in 2 to 5 sessions. How many sessions needed will depend on how saturated the pigment is, how deep it was implanted and how much needs to be removed for the desired result. In many cases only a percentage of the pigment needs to be lightened/removed and then we can continue the correction process by color correcting or color shifting. In those cases where we have pigment misplaced or in an unwanted area, color correcting will not be an option and removing as much of the pigment as possible will be our ultimate goal.

Results cannot be foreseen, predicted or guaranteed.

WHO ARE NON-CANDIDATES?

Although this saline removal is very safe, we do not work on pregnant or nursing women just as a precaution. A Patch test may be required on darker skin types.

Please be sure you have thoroughly read and understand the healing process of this removal procedure prior to scheduling a removal appointment.
